What is the truth about African mango side effects? This is a frequent question asked by folks considering taking African mango extract.

A study conducted by professors at the University of Yaounde in Cameroon, Africa indicated that the African Mango's pit, or seed, contain an extract that, when consumed as a supplement, helps patients to lose weight and stabilize cholesterol levels.

The study gave 102 overweight or obese adults to take African mango seed extract or a placebo (inactive sugar pill) for 10 weeks. At the conclusion of the study, the group taking the African mango seed extract supplements had lost a total of 28 pounds, while the placebo group had no weight loss. The participants did not change their diets or exercise patterns.

Participants in the group that took the African Mango Extract supplements also had declines in LDL (bad) cholesterol and nominal improvements in their blood glucose levels, according to the study.

Some participants indicated side effects but... these reports were similar in group taking the African mango extract and the group taking the placebo pills. The reported side effects among both groups were essentially the same and included excess gas, sleep problems and headaches.

Researchers in this study speculated that the African mango pit (Dika nut) extract helps the bodies of the obese patients be more sensitive to lepitin which is a hormone that controls fat storage. According to these researchers many overweight people are resistant to lepitin and the African mango extract helps the body to overcome this resistance which results in fat loss.
